Designed to collect a grain sample from the entire depth of the seed embankment and subsequent determination of the quality of grain according to standardized methods.

Structurally, the spear-shaped grain sampler (SGSS) consists of 2 hollow aluminum tubes with holes located in a spiral along the entire height. To facilitate insertion, a plastic or metal tip is installed at one end.

At the other end, a handle is installed, turning which closes the holes diagonally. From the side of the hollow handle, you pour the collected sample into the container.

According to the methods for sampling grain and oilseed crops, in order to obtain a representative sample, it is necessary to collect from the entire height of the embankment, car body, railcar, etc.
We produce probes in 3 lengths - 1.5, 2 and 3 meters. This length is enough to cover the need for proper sampling from any grain storage facility. Each length has a different number of 120mm long spiral holes located along the entire height of the grain probe.

To facilitate turning the handle and reduce damage to seeds when closing holes in the grain mass, diagonal closing of holes is provided

Volume of collected samples

The required volume of sample collected from the entire machine or storage facility is established by a standardized method. Only ISO 24333 specifies the minimum amount of grain sample collected with a hand-held spear-shaped probe from the entire depth of the embankment at one point - 500 ml.

Plastic or metal tips

Due to the fact that the grain is quite dense, it is necessary to apply a lot of effort to insert the grain sampler to the full depth of the grain mass. We have revised the design of the plastic tips and added a stiffener to the cone, facilitating vertical insertion. The plastic tips themselves are made of durable material - Low Pressure Polypropylene (LDPE) and can withstand temperature changes from -30 to +50°C. If the plastic tip wears out or is knocked off, it can be easily replaced with a new one.

Experienced laboratory technicians and laboratory managers know that no matter what the design of the plastic tip is, it wears out over time, which complicates insertion into the grain mass. For those who value the working tool and do not want to deal with replacement, we offer the installation of metal tips. The strength and sharpness of the metal tip of the grain probe does not depend on the operating conditions. Such a tip will last the entire life of the device.

Handles

While inserting the probe to a depth of up to 1.5 meters may not be difficult for the sighter, then when inserting it to a depth of 2 meters or more, the grain offers great resistance. Sighters often make a mistake - when the probe is already inserted into the grain mass, they begin to shake it from side to side, which leads to breakage. For proper immersion, the device must be screwed into the mass, which is very convenient to do with the help of reliable handles.

To facilitate the work of the sighter, we designed removable metal handles. The all-metal design of the handles allows you to securely fasten them anywhere in the tube, and greatly facilitates its use. Our handles do not break and will last the entire life of the probe. Even if it breaks, you can remove the handles and install them on another one.

The handles are available in 35 and 50 mm versions and are suitable for probes of any manufacturer.

Each of our probes is supplied in a durable cardboard tube with marking.
